Hi Akelasurf,

I builded an Alaia out of red cedar found locally and I was wondering why you chose pine. I understand now that pine is in aboundance localy and easy to renew as cedar is more scarse; this is a good choice. For the ones that do not have the time to build a Alaia or Paipo, I think your product is well priced. I did not get the chance to see one of your product in real life but if they performs as the one I build ( and read I'm a perfect newbie at building anything ) it's something thing that any experience kitesurfer should experience or own in is quiver.

Good luck to you !!!

What convinced me to build one was Top Hat riding wood is good and an old pulley bar kite.

Hi scoutu,
I think everybody have a special reason to use one wood over another, is not the ultimate true, for example the first Alaias are made from Acacia koa wood, so is not one special wood over another is just what you can find close to you and shaped, we chose Pine because is more resistant than Cedar, our Alaia are designed to surf the wave are pretty powerful at Barbados so pine is perfect for us here some pic of our Alaia in Barbados http://www.akelasurf.com/blogs/team-1 here some more http://www.akelasurf.com/collections/fr ... ee-brown-1
Surf Industry live a big revolution now is a perfect moment to created, to open mind people and dont resist to changes and broke paradigms
For more information about our products or please be free to send us a email to info@akelasurf.com or pass to our shop 1843 rue Ontario Est H2K1T6

Aloha and Positive vibes
